Lynda Shewchuk
Elliot Tremeer
Lynda Shewchuk is the director of the concert band programs at Lakeshore New Horizons. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and Education. Lynda has several years of  experience teaching high school music and private tutoring of flute, clarinet, saxophone, piano, theory and music history. Lynda directs two flute ensembles, The Wildwind Flute Choir and Toot Sweet. She also coaches the flute section for La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra. Lynda was a long time member of the Oshawa Symphony playing  flute and piccolo. She also played flute, clarinet and sax in the pit orchestra for approximately fifteen musicals with Oshawa Little Theatre. Lynda is a founding member of the Back Porch Duo, a group that performs at weddings, banquets, and other special events. She is also a member of the Clarington Concert Band.
Elliott Tremeer is a graduate of Peterborough Teachers' College and holds a Fine Arts Degree from York University. During a twenty-year teaching career, he taught students from grades 6 to 13. Elliott also taught instrumental music at Bowmanville High School for 16 years. Elliot served as an officer in the Ontario Regiment (Army Reserves) as Director of Music for the regimental and cadet bands. During that time, he took courses at the Canadian Armed Forces School of Music in Esquimalt, B.C. and Camp Borden, ON. One of his many career memories was when he taught a band course for air cadets in an Inuit community in Whitehorse, Yukon. For many of these cadets, this was their first experience playing a musical instrument. By the end of their six-week course, the band was performing in public concerts. In addition, Elliot was a long-time member of the Kawartha Kavaliers Drum Corps in Lindsay. He has been involved with New Horizons since the fall of 2009.
